maternity // clothes

Blerg.

My least favorite thing to do is buy/try on/shop for/need/wear maternity clothes.

It’s horrible.

Nothing fits well. They are expensive. I hate spending money on clothing that will only be worn for a few months.

However, it’s a necessity.

My course of action?

I try to buy non-maternity clothes that work with my preggo belly. For example, these shorts I posted over on Whoa, wait. Walmart? last week. I’ve been living in them!

All I had to do was roll down the top once. Voila! Comfy enough for a baby bump.

Like this Liz Lange for Target maternity dress that my mom got for me.

It feels like heaven.

And that says a lot, because I’m 32+ weeks along. In summer.

Let’s all go ahead and give it up for Birenstocks being back in style the summer I am pregnant.

So thankful that comfort is in this season. And that I saved my Birks for 14 years.

How do you style your bump? Do you enjoy the process?

Happy shopping! xoxo

have you heard?

Last week, something very exciting happened.

Something that I’ve been waiting for since I studied abroad (in Florence, Italy) TEN years ago.

Last week, H&M launched online shopping in the United States.

I mean. Finally! Dreams do come true, people.

The highlights include clothes (of course, BUT they now have plus sizes), HOME (a newbie!), and styling guides.

Happy hunting at H&M, no matter where you live! xoxo

joe fresh // kids

I am definitely might be considered picky about what my daughter wears. It can be a real challenge to find trendy kids clothing at an affordable price. It has to be affordable, they stain it or out grow it.

Do you shop in department stores? I typically try to avoid all department stores, with one exception. Nordstrom. (I swoon a lot, but buy very little.)

The other day, a JCPenney ad showed up in our mailbox. I can’t remember the last time I walked in that store. Obviously, an ad that cute intrigued me to check them out. Now, I’m in love with their Joe Fresh line. Most shirts and pants are under $20.

Don’t worry, they have stuff for women too. (Post coming soon!) Men, so sorry. Nothing from this line in the jcp stores for you. If you’re in the northeast sometime, look up the stand-alone Joe Fresh stores. You can view, but not purchase, online.

Here are several of my favorites for girls…

whoa, wait. walmart? // activewear

From a very young age, we learned the value of hunting for good deals on cute things.

I should preface this post by saying I own a (yes, ONE) pair of Lululemon yoga pants.  I love them.  They feel like heaven.  They actually make me happy. I feel like I look like a million damn dollars in them.  Having said that, I can’t afford to keep buying them.  I don’t have many friends who can afford that amazingly-wonderful luxury.

What I can easily justify is spending $11-$12 on Danskin Now yoga pants. Thank you, Walmart.  I own both of these pairs of pants and love wearing them to yoga.  I don’t own this top, but how cute is it? For $5.96 I might need to pick it up soon…

Happy hunting at Walmart. xoxo.

swimsuits

I decided that after wearing the same two swimsuits for three years, it was time to find a new one.  I can’t justify spending much money on many things.  Swimsuits usually aren’t one of them.  This is the dreaded hunt for a suit that fits well, looks high-quality, and is inexpensive.  Most importantly, it should cover wobbly bits, right?! Ugh.  All of which are the reasons I only buy new swimwear every three years.

I found this adorable line at target.com called Clean Water.  All of the suits are under $50.  Perfect!  If you have the REDcard, shipping is free.  The line is only online, that is the con.  Trying on swimsuits is crucial.  However, after reading reviews discussing fit, I ordered mine.  It should arrive within a week.  So excited! I chose this one that is a floral print.  If you know me well, you know this is a step out for me.  I tend to stick with solid dark colors in suits.  It is a welcome change.
