A couple of years ago, my wonderful husband (who knows how much I love hording collecting junk) called me to ask if I wanted an old card catalog from the university he worked at. For free.
Before he could even get the question out of his mouth, I said “Yes!”
He and a friend about broke their backs moving it into our garage.
There it sat.
Until we moved and had the perfect nudge to get it updated and into our new home.
With a little inspiration from this Design*Sponge post and a little help from my husband, I updated this guy.
I used Glidden’s Semi-Gloss High Endurance Paint + Primer in Cool Breeze Blue. We cleaned it thoroughly and busted out the paint. It took about three coats to get it fully covered. Taking out the drawers and leaving them the original finish cut out a ton of work.
Total cost: $15 for paint.
This piece fits perfectly in our home. We’re in love.
How has your luck been with painting furniture? I was nervous, but it was shockingly easy.
We’re in the midst of a huge transition. We moved from Nashville, TN to Northwest Arkansas. Who knows when we’ll feel settled again. So many questions: Do we rent for a bit? Hurry and buy a house? Which city should we live in?
Blah, blah, blah.
Let’s discuss the important things.
When is there a better time to sell both of our couches on Craigslist and find a new, dream one?
I’ve always preferred leather over fabric. Bringing our sweet MJ into our life only confirmed the necessity of being able to wipe milk, juice, and pee stuff off of the couch we live on. Yep, we live on our couch.
